Sweet Dreams
I suppose I'm not one to talk about pajamas. Not to divulge T.M.I., but an old tee is enough for me to throw on and curl up under the covers in. But there's something so...I don't know...winter-y about a matching pair of kids pajamas. Makes me think of Christmas morning and long weekends spent indoors playing games. I suppose these childhood memories are why some of the best kids pj sets are made just for kids. We love the children's pajama line, At Home Pajamas, because each pair offers unique patterns to fit his/her personality: cars, kitties, robots, snowboarders, hearts...and even (my personal favorite) cupcakes!

Easy baby shower gifts
Over the years I've been to my fair share of baby showers. At some point, I fell into the mode of buying the same baby shower gifts regardless of who the new mother was going to be. After a certain number of showers, I can only be so creative and have just run out time.
I've recently found Beau-Coup which is a great resource for baby shower gifts. No more running around from retail store to store trying to find something unique. It's all there at the click of a mouse, no wasted gas or hours trying to find something special.
Even better, when you're putting on the baby shower, they're a one stop shop for baby shower favors. They've got a huge selection of all sorts of neat stuff that will make the event special. I mean, who wouldn't be impressed by personalized mints for your girlfriends shower?
I've got them bookmarked in my browser for the next time I have to put on a baby shower. They are definitely a one stop shop for baby gifts and baby shower supplies that will help make the day a fun and fabulous event.

roll your own
I love it when the Brits use the word 'bespoke' not sure why, it just sounds cool. so now we have the latest attempt at letting the masses design their own clothes. go check out Styleshake, choose a fabric, design a dress and it shows up in 10 days. Handmade, bespoke fashion from London... ah, it's too good to be true, no delivery yet outside the UK!
apparently, they've got more than 1,000 designs created already (once you do a design, others can buy it). Looks fairly pricey, $330 in the example I saw.
I must say, I find the grey mannequins a bit creepy!
no word on when kid clothes will be on the menu but we'll keep an eye out. of course, we'd really like to have access to some oilily fabrics. of course, we'd have to come up with a London address where they could send that fabulous girls holiday dress

back to school
ok, we're already starting to see some of the stuff for back to school for fall 2007.
according to Sally Lee (Parents Editor), what's hot this year will be:
"We're seeing a lot of preppy and plaid this season — dresses, pants and skirts in corduroy, dark denim, argyle vests and kilts. T-shirts with attitude are also popular. Boys are adopting the "extreme sports" skater or snowboarder look, with baggy pants and jeans and skater shoes. Girls are wearing a tomboy look with a girly edge — cargo pants with a pink bow belt. Boys and girls are wearing lots of fall colors, like burgundy, burnt orange and brown, and stripes are really big. "
With this in mind, here's some neat stuff from one of our favorites for boys, Charlie Rocket or this tough layered, guitar boys shirt from City Threads
for your girls clothes, you can try Pampolina, this girls skirt feels like back to school to me.

Jottum is up!
Yes, our first experience with this fabulous and deep Dutch line, you can see Jottum here.
for me, this Jottum Tanja Skirt and Set is unique in children clothes.
Here's some background on the Dutch brand:
Jottum! is a cry of excitement.
And also the imaginative brand of clothing made in Edam. It owes its fame to Dutch quality and boundless originality. And the name? Well, that's a strange story.Since the 14th century, jots have been appearing in the small Dutch city Edam. Eye-witnesses describe cheeky little chaps with long arms and legs. They always wear yellow caps. Jots simply love cheese, from sweet-milk to cheddar (and even grated). For centuries, the population of Edam has been guarding its warehouses. They were forced to: a hungry jot is resourceful. Between 1920 and 1929 they launched a veritable invasion. Cheeses disappeared by their dozens.Edam was in an uproar.
But the tide turned on 21 June 1929. That night, the seamstress Klaar Klosje caught a sleepy jot. Her triumphant cry Jottum! echoed through the town. (Roughly translated it means "I've got him!") Klaar immediately noticed the jot's cute clothes. After some prodding, the jot admitted that they made their own clothes. And had been doing sofor centuries. In subdued as well as eye-batting colours. And from fabrics that are perfect for adventurers - jots love rough and tumble. Shortly afterwards, the jots entered into a unique agreement with the Edammers. In exchange for 50 kilos of cheese a week, they would help Klaar Klosje to design children's clothes. To express her gratitude, the seamstress named the clothing line Jottum. This agreement with thejots - which is framed and hangs on our wall - has never been changed. Nor has our conviction that children are entitled to the best. This applies to cheese, but equally to clothes.Jottum. Dutch honesty.

Helping Hand
I wanted to pass along some information and was hoping that you may be interested in offering a helping hand. There is nothing more heartbreaking that a sick child. There is a non-profit organization called Orange County Foundation for Oncology Children and Families that is a volunteer-run organization providing year-round recreational and social activities designed to foster supportive relationships for pediatric cancer patients and their families. These children with cancer are fighting the battle of their lives, and organizations like this can offer hope and give them a chance to be a kid during a incredibly difficult time in their lives.
There are so many ways you can help, through volunteering and donations. This organization is under jeopardy, because they are non-profit they depend on donations and volunteers. Please take a minute too look at the website and see if you can help http://www.ocf-ocf.org/fund.html.

Got Muffin Top?
It's the same old story...after kids and those pants just don't fit the same. It's simple not easy. It is possible to get back to pre-baby, but then age slowly trickles in and that 1 cookie becomes equivalent to 4 cookies. And that 2 miles now needs to be 4 miles to have the same affect. The muffin top is just not a happy feeling. Total bummer I know.
There's hope..The Abs Diet for Women: The Six-Week Plan to Flatten Your Belly and Firm Up Your Body for Life. It starts by providing dietary suggestions. recipes and nutritious shopping lists. An exercise plan that can work into your day, while your little one is napping or at school. There are loads of tips on how to manage that moment of weakness. Personally I love the tip about skipping Letterman because that extra hour of sleep will help burn fat! Now this book must be good!
